  • Digital Junkie 10/10/09 16:39 - Just some simple general tips which are easy to do,
    1. When adding keywords into page copy try to do it a natural way. Don't clump them all together.
    2. Put important content at the top of your page, Google will notice this.
    3. Regular updates, feed that site and keep it alive!
    4. Pick your fights wisely. If your a construction company dont pick the word 'space' as a singular keyword. That is unless you think you can do better than Nasa! Be realistic in where your time and content is best targetted to get a top result.
    5. Write articles of interest to the reader not to yourself. This stimulates word of mouth and that all important natural in-linking.
    6. To build Google trust you should look at your off-site strategy as much as your on-site. Who's linking into you, to what page, in what way and with what words. Very important :)

  • Vibe Graphics Ltd 13/09/09 15:28 - Hi

Sam from Vibe Graphics Ltd....... I thought I would leave a few tips that will help your website get a better position on Google.

    1. Content is king. Make sure that you have pages on your website full of content with all your keywords in. Do not worry if these pages seem a bit long and boring.... Google will love them. You can add buttons to the bottom of your website, so they are not hidden, but your visitors won’t really notice them.

Look at this site as an example: http://www.totalbathroomdesign.co.uk

    2. Having a blog on your website and updating it regularly is great for Google...... Make sure when you write your blog, you add your keywords in as many times as possible. But make sure they added in a sensible and readable way.

    3. Domain name - obviously you will have you company name as your domain name. But if you can purchase a couple of domain names which include your keywords and create micro sites which point to your main website....that can be really effective for helping your position on Google. For example...... the gumption centre rents office space in Bradford. So a good domain may be officesbradford.co.uk, bradfordoffices.co.uk...etc

    4. The final tip, the ANSWERS are all on Google. Search Google for things like back links, blogs, website rankings, keywords and article submissions.

If you look deeper enough...... a lot of things regarding increasing your position on Google will appear.

  • jaime herke 09/09/09 16:39 - using a program such as tweetdeck to update twitter and facebook simultaneously is a great timesaver!

  • DRB 09/09/09 12:18 - Quite agree. But if you don't have a Content Management Site (CMS) for being able to update your web site yourself, you really need to get some kind of agree with your web developer about keeping it 'alive' and feeding it with fresh content. Give visitors a reason to return.
Thanks also to Rueben for highlighting (via email) one of our spelling mistakes!

  • Panoetic 09/09/09 11:58 - One of the best things you can do to improve your website's natural search engine ranking is to have regularly updated, relevant, readable content. It is also good practice to choose topics that are more likely to spark off comments and conversation.

Also, try to proof check spelling and grammar errors, as they may have a negative impact on your rankings.
